Frequently Asked Questions

1. Getting Started with AIVOS

What is AIVOS?

AIVOS (AI Visibility OS) is a WordPress plugin and connected platform that helps your website get found, understood and cited by AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, alongside everything you already do for traditional search. It scores your content, fixes structural issues automatically, tracks AI driven traffic, and helps you grow with AI assisted content tools, all from one workspace dashboard.

Both. The AIVOS WordPress plugin installed on your site is what runs the audit, injects schema, and maintains your llms.txt file. Your workspace dashboard, reports, billing and the free audit tool are managed from aivos.co.za.

No. You can run a free AI visibility audit on any website from our homepage with no account and no credit card, and get a result in seconds. Creating a free workspace lets you save that result, track your score over time, and unlock the rest of the platform.

A workspace is your AIVOS dashboard for a single website: it holds your audit history, credit balance, campaigns, reports, activity feed and settings in one place. Agency plans can manage several workspaces, one per client site, from a single account.

Your first AI Visibility Score appears within minutes of installing the plugin and running your first audit. Improvements in actual AI citations take longer, since that depends on AI models re-crawling and re-evaluating your site, but score improvements from fixes are visible immediately after AIVOS re-audits the page.

No. Every recommendation is written in plain language rather than technical jargon, the credit system tells you the cost before you use a feature, and technical output like JSON-LD schema and your llms.txt file is generated and maintained for you automatically.

No. AIVOS is built to sharpen the SEO fundamentals you already rely on, not replace them. It reads your page exactly as a browser renders it, so it recognises schema already added by Yoast, Rank Math or any other SEO plugin, and will not duplicate or strip it out.

2. The AI Visibility Score & Audit Engine

How is my AI Visibility Score calculated?

The Audit Engine scores every post and page out of 100 across 14 weighted factors that influence whether an AI model will cite it. Examples include whether the page opens with a clear, direct answer, whether the heading structure is logical, whether proper schema markup is present, how readable the writing is, whether the content is still fresh, and whether images have helpful alt text.

Each of the 14 factors is weighted by how much it actually influences AI citation, based on observed AI model behaviour, so your score reflects real priorities rather than a generic checklist.

No. The audit reads your page exactly as a browser renders it, which means schema added by other plugins, structured data, and rendered markup are all taken into account, not just the visible text.

Entity Audits check how clearly your content names, defines, links and marks up the people, places, organisations and concepts it discusses. Well defined entities are one of the clearest signals AI models use to decide whether content is trustworthy enough to cite.

Batch Audits let you audit many pages or posts in one operation instead of one at a time, which matters once a site has more than a handful of pages. They’re included on the Pro and Agency plans.

Yes. Every audit is saved to your workspace’s audit history, so you can re-run a page after editing it and watch your score change over time rather than only ever seeing a single snapshot.

Yes. AIVOS audits any public post or page type on your WordPress site, including WooCommerce product and category pages, using the same 14 factor scoring.

Yes. Your workspace dashboard highlights your lowest scoring posts so you know exactly where to focus next, rather than having to review every page manually.

3. Schema, llms.txt & Automatic Fixes

What does AIVOS actually fix automatically?

AIVOS injects clean, structured JSON-LD schema (including Article, FAQPage, HowTo, Definition and Speakable schema), generates and maintains your site’s llms.txt file, and checks entity health, all without manual markup on your part.

An llms.txt file is a clear, structured introduction of your site for AI language models: which pages exist, how fresh they are, and how they should be understood. AIVOS generates it automatically and updates it whenever you publish or edit content, so it never goes stale.

If a page already contains a natural FAQ section or a numbered how-to list, AIVOS recognises that pattern in the rendered content and generates the matching schema automatically, with no manual markup required from you.

No. Because AIVOS reads the page as rendered, it detects schema that already exists and works alongside it rather than duplicating or overwriting it.

Schema and llms.txt updates are structural, non-visible additions to your site’s output rather than visible content changes, so they apply automatically as part of the Service. AI generated content from Campaigns and Cluster Analysis, by contrast, is always held for your review before anything is published (see section 6).

AI Content Refresh flags content that has gone stale, based on the same freshness signal the Audit Engine checks, and helps you update it so it stays current for both readers and AI models. It’s included on the Agency plan.

4. AI Traffic & Visibility Tracking

Can I see which AI bots are visiting my site?

Yes. AIVOS recognises AI crawlers by their user agent, including GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot, and logs when they visit and how often, with no impact on your page speed.

Yes. AIVOS separately tracks real human visitors who arrive at your site after asking ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity a question, so over time you get a genuine picture of how much traffic AI answer engines are sending you, not just a guess.

Detection is based on published user agent strings for known AI crawlers and on referral patterns from AI platforms. As AI providers change their bots or referral behaviour, AIVOS is updated to keep recognising them, but no user agent or referral based detection can ever be called 100% exhaustive.

Your workspace dashboard and Workspace Analytics show AI crawler visits and AI referred human traffic over time, alongside your score history.

No. Crawler recognition and traffic tracking run quietly in the background with no measurable impact on page load speed.

5. The Interrogator

What is the Interrogator?

The Interrogator runs a live, multi-model citation check directly against your content, across a panel of leading AI models, and records what comes back. Instead of guessing whether a page reads well to a machine, you get a genuine verdict on whether it would actually be picked up and cited, along with the reasoning behind it.

The Score is based on AIVOS’s own weighted methodology. The Interrogator goes further by asking real AI models directly and recording their actual response, so your improvement plan is built on observed behaviour rather than a prediction of what might work.

Yes. The Interrogator is a credit metered feature, and the credit cost is always shown before you run it.

There’s no fixed rule. It’s most useful after you’ve made meaningful changes to a page’s structure or content, or periodically on your most important pages to check whether AI models’ answers about them have changed.

6. Content Growth: Campaigns, Clusters & Refresh

What is the Campaign Manager?

The Campaign Manager is where you set up and run Content Campaigns: you define a topic, keywords, publishing frequency and preferred days, and AI generated drafts are prepared on schedule, ready for your review before they go live.

No. AI drafts from Content Campaigns and Cluster Analysis are held in your workspace for review. You choose what gets published; nothing goes live automatically without your action.

Cluster Analysis builds out pillar and satellite article structures around a topic, the kind of interlinked, comprehensive coverage that both search engines and AI models reward, and flags content gaps where your existing coverage is thin.

It suggests smart, relevant links between your own pages, strengthening the structure that helps both readers and AI models navigate your site. It’s included on the Pro and Agency plans.

Yes. Drafts appear in your workspace for review like any other content, so you can edit, rewrite or discard them before anything is published.

You do, once it’s applied to your site. See our Terms and Conditions for the full detail on intellectual property in AI generated output.

Content generation is credit metered, so the practical limit is your available AI Credit balance for that billing cycle, plus any top-ups you’ve purchased.

7. Your Dashboard & Workspace

What is the Artifact Browser?

The Artifact Browser is where every AI generated output lands for review: campaign drafts, cluster structures, and other AI produced material, all browsable in one place before you decide what to use.

Workspace Activity is a clear activity feed showing everything that has happened on your account: audits run, content generated, jobs completed, credits spent, and more, so nothing feels hidden.

The AI Wallet is where you see your current AI Credit balance at a glance, separate from the rest of the dashboard, so you always know what you have available before starting a credit metered task.

The AI Usage Dashboard breaks down exactly how your AI Credits have been spent, by feature and over time, so you can see what’s actually consuming your allowance.

Workspace Analytics shows your overall visibility score at a glance, score trend over time, your lowest scoring posts, and AI crawler and referral traffic for that workspace.

Yes. Higher tier plans support multiple workspaces, which is intended for managing more than one website, including agency use across multiple client sites.

8. AI Credits Explained

What are AI Credits?

AI Credits are the unit of account for the AI powered features of AIVOS: the Interrogator, AI Content Generation, Cluster Analysis, AI Content Refresh and batch operations. They have no cash value and can’t be exchanged for cash.

The Audit Engine, AI Visibility Score, Entity Audits, schema injection and llms.txt maintenance do not require credits. Credits are only for the heavier AI powered features listed above.

Your monthly plan allowance is intended for that billing cycle and does not carry over once it renews. Credits you buy separately as a top-up don’t expire and stay on your workspace until you use them.

Core features like the Audit Engine and AI Visibility Score keep working as normal. Credit metered features simply pause until your plan renews or you buy a top-up, so you’re never charged unexpectedly for going over.

Yes. Credit top-ups can be purchased at any time from your dashboard at the rates shown there, regardless of which plan you’re on.

Generally no, except where a plan expressly allows a pooled balance across an agency’s workspaces. Check your plan’s terms in your dashboard for the current arrangement.

9. Plans, Pricing & Billing

What plans does AIVOS offer?

Three plans: Free Forever (R0/month, 50 AI credits/month, great for exploring AIVOS on one site), Pro (R1,200/month billed annually, 500 AI credits/month, adds Batch Audits, Internal Linking, Job Queue and Scheduler), and Agency (R2,850/month billed annually, 1,500 AI credits/month, adds White Label Reports and Dashboard, AI Content Refresh, Multiple API Keys, Priority Queue and Team Members). Full feature lists are on the pricing page.

Yes. The Free plan is free indefinitely, with 50 AI credits a month, and is billed monthly only (it isn’t available on an annual cycle since there’s nothing to bill annually).

Annual billing is charged once a year at a lower effective monthly rate than paying month to month. You can switch billing cycles from your account dashboard, and the change takes effect from your next renewal.

Prices are shown in South African Rand (ZAR) and, where applicable, are inclusive of VAT at the prescribed rate.

Payment is processed securely by our payment gateway at checkout. We don’t store your full card details ourselves; see our Privacy Policy for how billing information is handled.

Yes. We give at least 20 business days’ notice of any price increase that affects your current plan, by email or in-app notice, before it takes effect on your next billing cycle.

Yes, from the Billing Dashboard in your workspace, where your subscription, payment history and invoices are all available.

We may retry the charge, and if it isn’t resolved within a reasonable period, your account may be suspended from paid features or downgraded to the Free plan until payment succeeds.

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade from your account dashboard whenever you like; changes to your credit allowance and features apply from your next billing cycle.

10. Cancelling, Downgrading & Refunds

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. There’s no long-term contract. You can cancel from your account dashboard whenever you like, and you’ll keep access to your current plan’s features until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.

No. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period, and you won’t be billed again after that date.

Generally no, fees already paid for the current billing period are non-refundable once the Service has been made available to you for that period, in line with our Terms and Conditions. Statutory cooling-off rights under South African consumer law, where they apply, are not affected.

Your workspace and its data remain available on the Free plan after you cancel. Nothing is deleted just for downgrading.

We delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period after account closure, except where we’re required to keep it longer for legal or accounting reasons. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.

11. Reports & Sharing Results

Can I generate a report to share with a client or manager?

Yes. AIVOS can generate polished reports showing score history over time, so you can keep clients or stakeholders informed without building a spreadsheet by hand.

Yes. Agency plans can present these reports, and the entire workspace dashboard, under their own brand name, logo and colours through White Label Reports and White Label Dashboard.

Reports are generated as polished, shareable documents from your workspace’s Reports section, downloadable for sending on to clients or stakeholders.

12. Agencies, Teams & White Label

Can I manage multiple client websites from one account?

Yes. Each workspace represents one website, and Agency plans are built to manage multiple client workspaces from a single account.

Yes, on plans that include Team Members. You can invite colleagues to a workspace; you remain responsible for their use of the account under our Terms and Conditions.

White labelling lets you present the AIVOS dashboard and generated reports under your own agency’s brand name, logo and colour scheme instead of AIVOS branding, so clients see your brand, not ours.

Agencies can issue a separate API key per client or integration, rather than sharing a single key across every workflow, which keeps access scoped and easier to revoke individually.

The Job Queue is where longer running tasks (audits, batch operations, report generation, campaign runs) are processed in the background, so your dashboard stays responsive instead of waiting on a task to finish before you can do anything else.

The Scheduler lets you set when recurring tasks run, such as Content Campaign publishing days and batch audit cadence, instead of triggering everything manually.

Priority Queue means an Agency plan’s jobs are processed ahead of the standard queue, which matters when you’re running audits and campaigns across several client sites at once.

No. Under a white-labelled Agency setup, your clients see reports and dashboards under your brand; they don’t need a separate AIVOS account unless you choose to give them direct workspace access as a team member.

13. Data, Privacy & AI Processing

Is my website content shared with AI companies like OpenAI or Google?

For AI powered features such as the Interrogator and AI Content Generation, AIVOS sends the relevant content to third-party AI model providers, currently including OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Perplexity and DeepSeek, purely to generate that specific result. Full detail, including cross-border transfer handling under POPIA, is in our Privacy Policy.

Yes. We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), including your right to access, correct or delete your information and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

The AIVOS plugin needs the same access any WordPress plugin needs to read your content and add schema and llms.txt output. It does not need, and does not ask for, your hosting, FTP or server credentials.

AIVOS stores what it needs to run audits, generate schema, and maintain history for your workspace, such as page content snapshots, audit results and generated artifacts, not a full mirror of your hosting environment.

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period afterwards where we’re legally required to. Free audit results not linked to an account are kept only briefly before deletion or anonymisation. See our Privacy Policy for the full retention detail.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the information we hold, including encryption in transit and restricted access. No online service can guarantee absolute security, which our Privacy Policy explains in more detail.

14. Developers & the REST API

Does AIVOS have an API?

Yes. AIVOS offers a full REST API and API key management, so developers can trigger audits, batch process content, and plug AIVOS into a wider workflow.

Yes. If you already work with automation tools such as n8n, AIVOS’s REST API is built to support exactly that kind of workflow integration.

API access is available from the Pro plan upward for basic use; Agency plans additionally support Multiple API Keys for separating access across clients or integrations.

Yes, available from your account once you have an API key, covering the available endpoints and authentication.

15. Technical Requirements & Compatibility

Does AIVOS work with any WordPress theme or page builder?

Yes. AIVOS works at the content level of your WordPress site, so it isn’t tied to Elementor, or any specific theme or page builder.

No. Crawler recognition and AI traffic tracking run quietly in the background with no impact on page speed, and schema or llms.txt generation happens behind the scenes rather than on every page load.

Yes. AIVOS is designed to sit alongside standard WordPress performance setups, including page caching. If a specific page doesn’t reflect a recent AIVOS update, purge your cache for that page.

Yes. AIVOS audits and optimises WooCommerce product and category pages the same way it does any other post or page type.

Each AIVOS workspace is designed around a single website. If you run WordPress multisite, treat each site you want audited as its own connected workspace.

AIVOS audits and generates schema for the content you publish, regardless of language. Multilingual plugin specific behaviour (such as per-language llms.txt handling) may vary; contact support if you have a specific multilingual setup you’d like confirmed.

16. Troubleshooting

My score hasn’t updated after I edited a page. What do I do?

Re-run the audit for that specific page from your workspace dashboard; scores update when an audit runs, not automatically on every save. If you’re using a caching plugin, also purge the cache for that page.

The free audit tool provides a lighter, account-free check and may be limited compared to a full, workspace-linked audit run through the plugin. For the most accurate and complete result, run the audit from your connected workspace.

Crawler detection relies on the AIVOS plugin being active and able to log incoming requests; confirm the plugin is active and up to date. Very new or low-traffic sites may simply not have been crawled yet.

Check the AI Wallet in your dashboard for your current balance; monthly allowances don’t roll over (see section 8), so a balance from a previous cycle may have already reset.

Contact us at connect@aivos.co.za with details of the conflict (the other plugin or theme involved, and what you’re seeing), and we’ll help investigate.

17. Support & Legal

How do I get help if I have a problem?

Reach us at connect@aivos.co.za, by phone on +27 (0)76 260 2730, or through WhatsApp chat on the website. Response times may vary slightly by plan.

Both are linked in the footer of every page on aivos.co.za, and set out the full legal detail behind the answers on this page, including billing terms, data protection and your rights.

No. AIVOS is an independent platform that uses these providers’ AI models as part of delivering certain features. It isn’t operated, endorsed or affiliated with OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Perplexity or DeepSeek.
